I'm not here to protect extremist views, I'm simply voicing my opinion that we should respect a religion. Who's to say that nice Muslims won't be offended by people going out of their way to do something like this, when tensions between everyone over things like this are so high?

I know it is a form of freedom of speech. I know it was to combat the some Muslims that were offended by the South Park episode and made death threats. But it is offensive to an entire people with beliefs who are not extremeists. About this targeting extremists, if you're wanting to target just extremists then why not do something aimed only at them? Remember that third point you posted? "Get people on your side. EDMD won't convince extremists that anyone is right, it's just going to make them more angry at us for insulting their religion.

You mention that you don't see why we should respect any religion. Do you have a religion? They are a pretty central part in many people's lives (since Mr. Fawkes asked for us to use Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:A.....ckerman_en.svg just to illustrate how many people reject all deities, note this is atheist and agnostic population so everyone else surveyed claims to have a religion) and I'm sure that if you ask someone that holds their religion near and dear if you can stomp on one of their (admittedly rather silly, but still) Very firmly held ideals, they would quickly respond with offense and depending on the PERSON they might just become violent when you do go out and stomp.

Why not try and calm down the extremists? If you're so worried about them going and blowing people up then quit making them mad for a change? Then when they've calmed down a bit maybe there might be some chance for reconsiliation not only from our side but from theirs.
