Years ago I worked for a company called Davidson & Associates (later to become Knowledge Adventure) and I worked on a bunch of children's educational software titles where I animated characters in pixel style. It was my first job out of college and I loved the opportunity to do work that was related to the video game art style that I'd loved for so many years. The fact that the games were for elementary school children or below (for awhile I worked on a project that was aimed at infants which I termed as "droolware") didn't bother me at all. Most of the work I did was forgettable but some of the work I enjoyed enough to modify and keep as animated .gif files outside of the native sprite format. These pieces aren't anything fantastic, but I thought folks might find them interesting enough to share here.
I have no idea now what this animation did ingame, but he doubtlessly was intended to spread cheer.

It is, actually. For awhile when the hierarchy was still relatively intact (ie: Davidson owning Blizzard / Synapse outright with nobody really higher up the food chain) there was a regular sense of being upstaged by those guys. We'd release something good, but they'd always have something much more impressive in the works.
