This is a very emotional piece for me. This is my beautiful girl Shanti. Next week is her birthday and I couldn’t be more grateful that she stayed with me another year. She is getting old, her muzzle is painted white, her legs shake when she gets up and she can no longer howl….my mom and I loved to howl with her, she had such an enchanting voice, she gets sick a lot and there are days when she prefers to lay down and sleep all day. Yes, she is old, and our days of going on adventures are far behind us, but when she looks up at me with those beautiful bright eyes it feels like it was just yesterday that she came into my life and at the same time it feels like we have always been together, in every life, in every universe. My baby girl I love you, you are and always will be my best friend, my sister of another species. Happy birthday Shanti.
