Got inspired by an “anthropomorphic animals owning pets” post on Tumblr.
This is what I rambled:
I think it depends on setting and execution.
Take my arthropod world, for instance. There’s varying types (and styles) of anthropomorphism because let’s face it - highly anthropomorphised livestock aphids, for instance, would look disturbing.
And some bugs are more appealing to me when they look more crittery and act that way, too. Their world doesn’t function exactly like a human society, either, so I get more leeway.
But I really don’t put that much thought in it beyond that.
