The hand thing is a face thing I learned in 8th grade.

I learned this hand-snake trick at my elementary school in Taiwan in 1996, and have been teaching it to people ever since. :)

Hands together, cross back four digits to give you a 4-barrel gun, separate your index digits and bring your middle fingers through towards your thumbs. Ring fingers become eyes, index fingers become brows, and middle fingers are the snout, with the thumbs being the jaw.
