the Scytherne are a race of Snake-like humanoids. They are very flexible and rather deviously intelligent, delving into technology most of the more common races would have trouble even understanding.
They're so secluded that no one knows much about them, but the general consensus is that they're bad news - small Scytherne cults may crop up from time to time, but no one is ever sure what it is they're up to, and any time an investigation is made they simply leave, as mysteriously as they came.

I have to say that Wayfarer is one heck of a crowded world with already over eighteen races!!!
I don't know how they are able to get along together without some form of conflict but imagine when you walk into a popular bar that welcome all races... the cleaner will probably find a happy drunk slimeling in his mop bucket in the morning XD.
