This is the first character we ever meet in "Empire of nightmares", well before Klonoa is brought on the scene. Her name is Shailen (Shy-lan) and she is one of the Emperor's closest advisors/servants. She is very loyal to the Emperor. The two used to delight in each other's company. She would do what ever he asked if it meant pleasing him or bringing him comfort. That is, until he began growing cold and distant. The Emperor seemed disturbed. He formed an obsession that troubled Shailen. He simply wasn't as he once was. Shailen loves her Emperor. She would do whatever it takes to bring him back to his former glory and restore his joy. Without the Emperor's knowledge, Shailen dismisses the guards in the Eastern portal chamber. There, she summons the one person she believes will help: The Dream Traveler. Her attempt is successful and Klonoa emerges at the center of the portal ring. From then on, Shailen is fully dedicated to aiding Klonoa, serving as the spirit of his Wind Ring. Shailen herself is very kind, gentle, soft spoken, diplomatic and wise.
Shailen originally started out as a sort of blue cat under a different name. Originally, she would sacrifice herself to stop the big disaster from happening. I wasn't sure what that was at the time. This time, I think the threat would be nightmare energy threatening to consume the Kingdom Shailen belongs to. At any rate, her design changed to more of a combination of Lolo and Leorina with some elements from characters of the Moon Kingdom. I wanted to give her the same general appearance as the Lunateans, but I decided to alter a few things. Her ears would be tipped and her eyes would be orbs of sapphire. She would bear a dome-cap with a familiar gold wing shape.
Unfortunately, I am very disappointed in the performance of my scanner. The flesh color of her body seems to have been washed out and the toupe of her tail turned gray. The sand color of her primary shawl looks like it turned white. Why was my older scanner better at translating color? *Grumble noises* Well, I tried to fix it up as best as possible. Hopefully, you are all able to make out what she's supposed to look like. I'd like to know what you all think of her, of course. ^^
