Few things have ever pissed me off quite as much as having to listen to a sophist attempt to describe the differences between "Good" and "Evil" in their own, self-aggrandizing terms.
Few things give me as much of a sense of peace as seeing the true complexity of morality shown in ways that display the incredibly subtle gradations between them.
This is some damn good writing.

yup.
(note: i know this doesn't follow christian mythology strictly.)
You have to follow all 600+ commandments, not just the first 10. Even if most of those are thought crimes level of laws. and even minor infractions are considered mortal sins. And yea they do all apply, the son of the guy above in the mythology did state in Mathew's book. 'i did not come to abolish my father's law, but enforce it'.
good luck kid.

Yup, according to christ, all Christians must follow the same silly 600+ commandments jews have to. including no work on sunday. as in you can't even flip a light switch. It's your action causing a direct reaction. Ie work. look up sabbath mode appliances. what devout jews use to get around such 'rules'. more or less delayed action times. flip a light switch, it will turn on, a random few seconds later.
Somehow that's not 'you' doing work, but the light switch itself. also god seems to be dumb enough to be fooled by setting, say an oven or microwave to turn on and function at a certain time during sunday, on saturday.
Other things they don't follow and according to their book should and are considered sins. wearing clothing made of two different types of cloth. A classic that everyone sins on because almost all clothing is a mix now. Oh, and they're supposed to kick out female family members out of the house and to the farthest reaches of their property during their time of the month. Otherwise the house is considered 'unclean' and must be cleansed by a rabbi.
Did you ever talk back to your parents? argue? have fights? one of those 600 commandments is to tell the parents to kill such a child.

Yea, Christianity is as much about forgiveness, and love as Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance. Then again since they all draw from the same source. It's understandable they're all tyrannical and allow some of the most immoral behavior that anyone ever seen. Anyone who's actually read the book also finds it laughable. 'it's the basis of western civilization and law'. Hint, before the enlightenment when even christian priests said 'enough is enough' and individual rights and freedoms became a thing western civilization resembled the Taliban just with fancier towns.
Really, those same laws also cover who can be slaves, spoiler, anyone outside your tribe is fair game. No one has the high ground in this game, everyone's ethnicity has at one point the slaver and enslaved in history. Others add exceptions to the first ten. No killing is actually no killing within your tribe, same with stealing. It's not cheating if you do it with someone outside your tribe, or your slave.
One of the possible origins of the idiom 'rule of thumb' is the commandment that 'you can't beat your slave with a stick thicker than the thickness of your thumb'. the other being the length of the thumb compared to other objects, like how 'a foot' used to mean the actual size of the king's foot in measurements.
