Okay, I may have messed up here.
Used the My Melody multi-pen to draw Tangy of Animal Crossing fame.
Firstly, not drawing My Melody with the My Melody pen. Oops.
Secondly, even using a multi-pen.
So! Multi-pens. They seem like the coolest thing as a kid, but as an adult, they're still a novelty, just ones with poor construction and unpleasant ink. But hey! If you need orange, it's there.

The concept is fun! Admittedly, this My Melody pen doesn't have the worst ink I've used in these sorts of things. Isn't uncommon for colors to have a tough time starting up or simply dry out completely. But hey! Maybe they're better in modern times. Still a bit flimsy though.
I seeee! To me I think my simple mind is just enthralled at the concept of one pen with many a colors. I wanna get a fountain pen first and foremost because you've also made me wanna get one of those but then one of those goofy things is next up on the agenda
My Melo has a big heart - she will understand.
I remember seeing models that were as thick as a thumb. To an elementary school me those looked like a status symbol, but in retrospect I'm kinda glad I never used one - a pen this wide would likely prove to be a setback when it comes to learning how to properly hold one!

Perhaps you're right...
Thumb thickness is pretty accurate! Well, maybe more like a middle finger.
It's interesting you bring up the idea of thickness and holding a pen properly as I know of writing utensils specifically designed for children that are thicker than their traditional counterparts. The Faber-Castell Goliath is a thick pencil aimed towards children developing their grip, and Ticonderoga makes an even thicker pencil with the same goal.
But I do think the pen would still be a hindrance due to how hard you have to press down when using it. A bad habit to form!
