I've been going through some of my writing lately, and decided to start posting them, since until now they have basically been only for myself. I'm going to try and post a couple pieces a week for the next few weeks.
I'm going to start with In the Chill of the Night, a piece I wrote a year or two ago. It's set on an alien world, only recently inhabited by humans. There is wildlife there, though, which the inhabitants are just beginning to understand.
Tagged tiger, as the wildlife experienced is certainly tiger-like, but not really intended to be a proper tiger, per se.
Comments/critiques more than welcome.

Good for a short story, it leaves me wanting to know more though. Like why did the mother leave the daughter with him? Certainly it has me more curious about the planet and it's creatures. A bit more description might help give the world more of an alien feel to the reader. I do like the unexplained "ditching" of the cat onto the human though, unique. Again very good for a short story, I hope to read more. :)
Yeah, but isn't "leave the reader wanting more" the best thing in writing, though? :>
In some ways, many of the stories I'm planning to post are like this or worse; I like leaving the endings somewhat open, letting the readers fill in the final ending for themselves. I've got a cute little werewolf story I may post next (on Thursday), which is rather contained and more "closed." I've also got a longer, darker transformation story which I may consider putting up soon.
More description of the world might help, I agree; it's a rather short story, and that could add some meat to it as well. I may consider some edits to the text, along those lines.

Oh I do it all the time, leaving the reader hanging, creating suspense, tension, it drives people mad. :)
Ah sometimes that can be good, after all real life does not always have a complete closed book ending. Somethings are never truly resolved and what is in the reader's imagination can always be better. Ooooo nice, well I look forward to reading both of those stories. :)
*nods* Yeah that was about the only complaint I had was it seemed lacking in description here and there, but beyond that was quite unique and original.
