Couriers coming across the rare sight of Wulvern sunning himself against the rising sun.

A repaint of this piece! I did this in June for my digital imaging class' first assignment of painting something in Photoshop and using custom brushes. I made a simple blocky brush that I intended to use as a square brush, but it wound up becoming something pretty different and feeling more like a chunky textured brush. Created a really neat affect I think!

I also think this is the first full piece where I've featured some of the non dragon or humanoid species of my worldbuilding, the birdlike guys are raptyrids, sort of fox gryphon/raptor creatures! Of the current original species these guys have had both the most work done visually for them and been the longest around for the furry species in this world project. The one seen from behind with tall rabbit ears and the puffed up neck is yet unnamed. I just haven't been able to settle on something that fits them yet, not that it'd super matter if I do any storytelling outside of specifying species. They're still a little under construction, but the idea for them visually is a mix of squirrel, mustelids (weasels and martens in particular), and other rodents. They have air sacs in the neck that they can expand to appear larger, emphasize emotions, or maybe act as a built-in floaty. Here you can see it puffed up from behind, likely in awe and some fear of seeing the giant dragon. When not inflated, the skin either hangs around the neck or can be pulled tight to it for some.
