Personally I have to wonder why mage's must always be defined by robes. Surely the ability to do unnatural things through chanting and waving your hands is indicative enough of what you do for a living.

Oh, such attire is only used in very formal practices. Usually magic so advanced that it requires several other mages, and the spells are so complex that they can be defined more as "Rituals". Additionally, such robes are typically enchanted with a special type of magic that boosts the efficiency of the wearer's mana.

But yeah. Ice normally wears whatever the crap she wants. Like what she's wearing in other pics I've done of her. :P She just happens to own such an outfit, and I felt like drawing her wearing something slightly different.
