It's summer! And that means that the big kids aren't in school, and some of them are going to spend their days in a summer activity group in the same building as Zee-Zee's daycare! This is very exciting. Or at least it was, until Zee-Zee got to the daycare and found out that the big kids are in one room and the daycare in another, and he wasn't going to get an opportunity to play with them however much he whined that he's practically grown up and much too big and clever for daycare!

Sitting and listening to a story with all the other little cubs, Zee-Zee drifted off into a daydream about how he could sneak out of the daycare room and into the big kid room, and how once he was there nobody would notice anything strange, because Zee-Zee's a very clever squirrel who knows all about big kid things like numbers and words and going to the potty and...

... at about this point in the fantasy Zee-Zee noticed something warm under his bottom. He'd been so wrapped up in the daydream, he'd wet his pull-up without noticing! And it had soaked through the seat of his shorts, too! That's just annoying! And almost certainly someone else's fault, though Zee-Zee couldn't quite figure out how to blame it on anyone just yet. He'd have to delay launching his secret plan to infiltrate the big kid room until after he'd told a grown-up and been taken to the potty to see if he still needed to go and then get changed into a new pull-up, and that would take years and years!

But ooh! Looking around for a grown-up to get the change out of the way quickly, Zee-Zee saw something exciting! All the little cubs were getting up now the storytime was over, and scattering around with the grown-ups organising things - and the door to the daycare room was open! And nobody was looking at it! Or at Zee-Zee! And he happened to know that the door opened into the cloakroom, which opened to the big potties! Not the little potty room that was part of the daycare, the big potty room that the grown-ups and big kids used! Zee-Zee formed a new plan. He'd sneak out of the daycare, go to the big potty to see if he still needed to go pee-pee, and then he could come back and tell the daycare grown-ups he'd taken care of that all by himself! That would make him feel much better about having a potty accident! A big kid who goes to the big kid potties by himself definitely isn't a baby!

And the first part of the plan worked just fine. Zee-Zee dashed out of the door and into the cloakroom. But as he was heading towards the door of the big potty, it started to open! Quickly, Zee-Zee dived into a little cubbyhole and pulled some coats over his head, thinking he was completely invisible.

"Um, I can see you, Zee-Zee," said Friendly the Fox, recognising his little buddy from the big fluffy tail, furry little feet and damp-bottomed shorts sticking out of the cubbyhole.

"No you can't!" Zee-Zee insisted. He was sure he'd found a perfect emergency hiding place! Whoever that was behind him must have been just guessing.

"No, I really can," Friendly gently explained. "But that's still some great hiding!"

"Oh, hi, Friendly!" Zee-Zee said, backing out of his hole and sitting up on his knees. Friendly squatted down to talk to him.

"Hey, accidents happen," Friendly said, knowing it was best to skip asking 'did you have an accident' and just get straight to making Zee-Zee feel better. "Even the biggest kids have them sometimes!"

"Uh-huh," Zee-Zee said, feeling better already.

"And the other cubs your age still wear diapers, don't they?" Friendly grinned. "They don't get to wear cool pull-ups like you!"

"They got Lightning McQueen on them," Zee-Zee said, standing up and tugging the front of his shorts down to show Friendly.

"My favourite!" Friendly cheered. "Wow, you really gave him a wetting, big squirrel! Let's get you back to the daycare to get changed," he continued. "You wanna be clean and dry for what's happening later!"

"What's happening later?" Zee-Zee squeaked, getting excited already as he followed Friendly back to the daycare door.

Friendly grinned happily as he announced "The teacher says some of the biggest and bravest daycare cubs are gonna be coming to say hi to the big kids later! We'll show you the craft things we've made!"

Zee-Zee squealed with excitement! "I'm big and brave! I'm gonna go to the big kid room!" He hurried back into the daycare to find a grown-up and get changed fast! Friendly fondly watched him go and then headed back to make sure his lollipop-stick sculpture was ready for the show!

And so Zee-Zee's plan, sort of, worked out after all. He did get to go to the big kid room! And he knew about it before the other daycare cubs did, and amazed them with his cleverness! And he was totally clean and dry in his new pull-up all through the visit! If anyone had come into the big kid room while he was there, they would have definitely thought he was one of the big kids! Hmm, maybe next he could sneak into the grown-ups' coffee break room...
