I am still so in love with this piece! The artist was amazing in working with me to get more symbolic things going on and took an interest in learning about the character to accomplish that, which was just amazing. The Blind Seer, I believe, heavily does encompass an all-consuming, mindless, envious, love (among a few other aspects). It's why one of her other names is simply, 'The Mother'.
One of these initial drafts was her kissing the lamb's head, rather than looking as though she was about to devour it, to further symbolize 'Motherly Love'. We decided to go this route to play more into 'blind fate' or even, 'blind loyalty' (another aspect of 'love'), and with it, sacrifice. I also adore the concept of blindness here because it also leans into another theme of her; dependency. Oh, does she adore it when her squishy little mortals need her lol.
The 'handsigns' are actually mudra as well! I don't have much knowledge with it, but its a field the artist specializes in and is very informed in! This mudra in particular is 'purna jnana mudra', or, 'Complete Wisdom'. Which fits because I described this being as someone who knows what is, has been, and will be, and guides with it. This brings the question of whether she changes the fate of those she guides/those who blindly follow her, in an attempt to better it... Or, if maybe she is the reason such a fate she saw is the reason it happens to begin with, in some endless, mind-scratching conundrum.
Rambling aside! It was an absolute joy to work with this artist, who I'm very grateful took on this project since it's a 'bit' out of their norm!
