Actually, given Sully's eating habits, he's in for a dramatic surprise once he gets a little older and his metabolism starts slowing.

Aside from helping Emmet make some extra cash, the machine hasn't really lived up to its promise. Its main problem is that the effects wear off unpredictably, so you don't know how long your new form will last. It also leaves too many properties of the original person unchanged, so it's useless for e.g. disguises or leveraging specialized attributes.

"It also leaves too many properties of the original person unchanged" So in other words, you wouldn't be able to temporarily neutralize a powerful foe, let's say, a sabre-toothed tiger, by turning him into a fluffy little bunny or something, because he would just retain his musculature and stature and be anything BUT cute and harmless! From what I've seen, you'd have to take up witchcraft to achieve those specific results..
