As someone who's not conventionally attractive, I can understand Joe's impulse to lie about his body type (there's plenty of fatphobia in the gay community, let's not kid ourselves), but there's still no excuse for it. It's still awful to take advantage of people, especially in a community that's frequently the target of hate crimes. It proves you're willing to manipulate people and waste their time. Plus, what happens when you physically meet with that person, you can't just morph into the hunk they're expecting. It's best to be honest and show off your best qualities, while acknowledging your faults when dating.
The only reason Joe turned out like this is because of his cold heart dad who's always talk down on him. It's about damn time for Joe to try to get over his self loathing and accepted himself for what he truly is.

He isn't. Joe is never honest with any of the guys he wants to shack up with. He tells them lies about his life, and sends them doctored photos. When he does manage to score, he fucks it up by pushing boundaries and getting too perverted. He needs to cut the crap and just be himself. Joe is actually nice looking, and there are guys that would dig someone of his age and body type.

I feel like he might need a professional to sort out why he feels like he isn't good enough on his own to have to lie... it helps even more to have that professional be paid to break through a wall of "Of course you're going to say that, you're my friend" insta-dismissal of any logical path that doesn't immediately explain everything with the lying/anxious reason of 'because you're a horrible goblin piece of shit who can trick friends but not lovers or...'.

I don't think he's even really looking for a hookup. What he wants is for someone to tell him he's not sexually repulsive. Which is probably how he sees himself.
But he has absolutely no clue how to get that genuine validation. Certainly no idea how to ask for it. He's trapped in this cycle of lying about his body and looks, being rejected, then trying again because surely SOMEONE out there will think he's still just as sexy as he used to be when they see the real him. Right?
(And let's face it, most of the guys, who were rightfully creeped out by the deceit, definitely added a parting "and you're ugly, too" on their way out the door, even if they didn't particularly mean it.)

I feel for Joe, especially seeing how his father has no respect for him and I see Joe is subconsciously lashing out by being dishonest online for quick flings because he hasn't found someone he wants to commit to, partially him never fully maturing. Let alone he might be afraid of showing his father he is in a committed gay relationship. Who knows that might end up.

I want Boomer and Miles to give him the advice he needs, while also being critical of all his bullshit with the fake photos. I can understand that Joe's dad is homophobic trash, but that's never an excuse to take advantage of people, also let's not forget he molested Boomer back in Boomer's Big Date and gave him a handjob without his consent. Joe sucks and needs to fix himself (or go to prison whichever comes first).
I honestly like Joe but he can't keep on catfishing other men on dating apps and hope that someone will fall for it and be okay with it... Amongst other things (Wash your ween, Joe!)

just as you have your "type," it is true others have their "type"
just as it is true, you would want your preferences to be respected, the same courtesy has to be extended unto others
perhaps, in this theoretical universe, joe would love for you to hit the hay with him; perhaps, he wouldn't
