Garnet's eyes endlessly trace the gaudy statue, already covered in cracks and ensnared by the forest overgrowth; a monument to allegedly great deeds enveloped in decay as if the very world knows of its lies.
The realization sets in;
All that she was, taken from her.
All that she would ever be, no longer hers to realize.
The weight in her heart crawls up to her shoulders. She collapses against the statue's base, burying her face in her knees to hide her grimace from Lune, lest he laugh at her.
He takes a seat next to her, but does not laugh.
"Hey, don't look a gift horse in the mouth."
A cruel perspective regardless of his intent, crueler than revealing this truth to her in the first place. Her stomach twisting, Garnet stands right back up, "Y-you call this a gift?!"
Lune stands back up himself, "Yep." he grunts, interlocking his fingers and stretching his arms high until they crack, "This town...it's dull as rocks, but I'd take it over being a stuffy old knight in a heartbeat."
The knot in her stomach all but ignites, "Shut your mouth you cur!" she shouts, nose flaring as stomps up close to prod a finger into the boy's chest, "You're a criminal! You vandalize the crows home! You insult the Star! You!..you tell me these...these lies..."
Her words are full of the fire from within, stinging on her tongue to the point it becomes too painful to speak. As a knight she was to put resolve into all her words, but like many times before, the weakness of her new body reveals itself when she tries. Her words peter off and it is all she can do not to cry.
"You...y-you don't know anything about...about knighthood..."
Lune looks somberly upon the shivering pup, and holds his paws high, "You're absolutely right."
"I...am?"
"Mhm. Still, this is your life now. Better start enjoying it."
Garnet hangs her head low, looking back at the statue one more time, feeling the same sting from when she first saw it, "How can I 'enjoy' knowing my name is being heralded for something I didn't do...?"
"Now that I can't tell ya."
