Usually I'm not a fan of simple black and white illustrations with large amounts of negative space, however I do very much like this one. No idea why honestly, but I think it's neat!

I honestly get that. In my experience I used to draw more with traditional lineart with flat/soft shading, but after a couple years that changed. Currently I draw more loosely with primarily chalk and dry brushes. There is something freeing about drawing more abstract and rough in my eyes.

I think it's healthy to change the way you draw once in a while. It keeps up the spice.
