One thing that's helped is drawing super-huge, the other thing that helps is Sai.. OMG vector layer.

Do you use Sai at all? Right next to the button for "New Layer" is a button for "New Vector Layer."

USE THAT SUCKER.

You can use the pen tool just like the normal pen (ain't no crazy Photoshop/Illustrator pen tool) and then ADJUST THE WEIGHT AND CURVE OF THE LINE without having to re-draw it. Cleans up the inks SO well. So even if I don't get something just right, I don't have to undo undo undo undo until I get it right. I can just adjust it. MUCH LOVE.
