Say hello to who of the Grays is nicknamed/internally referred to as The Spaceship or G-13, a Gray who was part of a mission to delivery a new ship, along with its experimental technology and onboard ship AI. The mission went wrong though, as the technology was not prepared for the narrative oddity that is Gray, causing an event that made Gray basically become the ship and replace the ship's AI. Such a sudden change did leave Gray disoriented and basically shut the ship down. When it 'woke up' again, the crew had already abandoned the ship and gotten away, leaving Gray alone.

Thankfully, after a long time of trying to conserve energy it was found by Yumi, who got onto the ship wondering what it was. They got into one of the mechs in the ship and, similar to what had happened before, ended up becoming one with the mech. Now, they can actually leave the ship, something Gray can't do, which makes scavenging for parts Gray can used for repairs, upgrades, and reactor fuel much easier than it had been. Most importantly, however, it meant that Gray was no longer alone out there and it now had the mech, Y-VM1, to talk and interface with.

Also, for a good reference as to how big these two are: Y-VM1 is large enough to be able to fit a pilot in their torso, and the bay doors at the front of G-13 are big enough to easily fit the mech into them.
