This was my first RPG. We didn't get many SNES RPGs in Europe and honestly Mystic Quest is decent fun for what it is. It's simple and easy, it was a good entrypoint into the world of JRPGs.
It even helped me a bit with learning English as a kid.

Me too, hihi. I was so young I could barely read when we got the SNES. ^-^
I must've pressed various buttons to see what happens and it accidentally changed the language to English. For many years I thought this game was only in English. From it I learned what "Yes/No" means and "Save" and "Quit" and things like that.
Later when I was a bit older I found out how to change it back to German and I played the game properly for the first time. Lots of nice memories, it feels great to play my SNES again. I just wish I still had my old CRT TV. Maybe some day I can get one again.
Thank you for your comment, WonXi. It makes me happy.

You're welcome. Happy to share some video game memories ^^
Still, I'm surprised it's possible to switch from German to English in the German version. I've got a copy of the French version and there is no way to switch languages on it.
I hope you can get a CRT TV again, maybe you'll be able to find one for a reasonable price or even for free. Where I live, people sometimes get rid of their old CRT TVs by leaving them in the street.

I agree, it looks sleek and fun. The controller buttons are still some of my favourites out of all consoles. :3
The American SNES got better games, but the design is much more bulky and dull looking.
It reminds me of the Japanese cute vs. Western serious box art changes. Somehow there was this idea that western kids wouldn't accept cute looking games, it's such a shame, but thankfully it has changed in recent times.
