I'm just listening to some Vangelis, Blade Runner soundtrack... talk about a perfect match for this picture. I'm a real lover of these moody sci-fi street scenes, and this looks fantastic! Great job on the neon glows contrasting on him.

I love the vibe of that film so much, I have the soundtrack playing whenever I work on art. The only thing that could have improved this piece would have been some rain. I have such a thing for rain-soaked neon. x3

Actually, there's a reasonably simple technique for creating rain on Photoshop. But yeah, I can see where you're coming from, it would still look damn cool though. Just realised that "Empty Streets" is another song by Vangelis, which has a very Blade Runner vibe to it. :3

Shame on you! I admit, I use Flash more these days myself, but PS is still the cornerstone of all digital art. D: Pity, I would have taught you the technique... it might still work in SAI, I guess. I've not used it, so I dunno.

Yeah, this picture let me work with light sources I'm not THAT used to working with, so it was definitely a learning experience.

It does look like a pain to come up with a background but for some things it sure seems to pay off haha, usually people stick with a gradient background or texture...

Haha, yeah, I've never been a fan of 'just a gradient' because it always looks wrong/off against my art, to me. And textures...hell, I have no clue how to properly use them yet. XD

Well, other than a few trades and a badge commish I have, I'm slowly preparing for a huge project I'm starting up early spring 2012 (unless I just get REALLY impatient with waiting and start sooner) and I'll need to be able to do backgrounds if I want it to be any good.
Plus I need to do a few more commissions so I can have money for college, so that'll factor in as well.
