I was looking at some of my old art and found this one.
I love this old piece of mine, originally loaded to Elfwood during my college days :3
"But I know you, if I were blind I would know what you are."
This was inspired by a phrase from The Last Unicorn:
The unicorn had been mistaken as a white horse many times, and when Shemndrick came to see her locked in her cage at the midnight carnival he asked her to look at her fellow legends and tell him what she sees.
The unicorn was disgusted to see that normal animals had been made to look like mythical beasts "They are deceptions, mirages, your Mommy Fortuna cannot truly change things"
Shemndrick replied "its true she can only disguise, she can make a lion look like a manticor to eyes that want to see a manticor, just as she put a false horn on a real unicorn to make them see the unicorn. But I know you, if I were blind I would know what you are."
this image is inspired by that last quote.
I have contemplated many stories for this image: the man is blind.... was he born blind, was he afflicted with blindness? Why does he have such emotion for the unicorn, has he always wanted to see one, or perhaps he has a deceased sister who adored them and wishes she could have seen it? i will let you decide the details.

Story:
The man fell to his knees, his cane dropped into the soft grass, his blind eyes filled with tears of joy as the unicorn comes to touch his hands.
He caresses the side of the creatures face gently with his rough hands, delighted by the touch of the unicorns fine fur.
The creatures of the forest, drawn in by the unicorn's purity watch from the shadows.
The man is blind but even being blind he knows what sacred beast has come to bless him and he knows how miraculous the creature is.
Why would the unicorn, a creature that visits pure maidens, come to visit a battered homeless blind man?
Well the man may know that he is in the presence of this sinless creature known as the unicorn, but what he does not know, is that the unicorn is also blind.
