To Harley,
After giving it some thought, I have decided to commit with my plans with commissioning you. I have seen your work on the news in several locales all over the place, and I truly admire your talent. I have also heard of your own personal story, and I knew that I can not trust anyone else with this job but you.
I grew up with no money, and I've learned the value of hard work at a young age. When my own father had allowed me, I began working at the sugarcane field farming for a small, upcoming business selling pitorro. It was a long journey, but I had eventually ended up here. At the top of my own business, self-funded and sustained for many years. One day, I hope to pass these values down to my own son. I'm sure he will end up a fine hard worker, just as yourself.
Now, I am at the peak of my career, and I only want to give back to this town and to my people. With hard work, this town will be a thriving hub of businessmen, restaurant owners, and several others who want to make their dreams come true. That brings me to you: I would like to commission you a portrait of myself when I served my dues as a farmer in my youth. As a reminder of how putting in the time and effort will eventually gain you your goals. A story for me, and a lesson for you.
That brings me to the matter of payment. I have mentioned before that money is no longer of importance to me, and I believe talented artisans such as yourself SHOULD get their work's worth in money. I remembered how you we were ready to settle with that agreement until we've met in person. You've then requested a different... bizarre compensation: You want to have some time with my feet.
At first, I've had some concerns. As you know, I am a married man and I am very loyal to my beautiful wife and family and I will never put them at risk. But as we have spent more time together, discussing this painting, touring you around my beautiful town, I've realized you are a well-meaning man with odd interests... but all together, a harmless man. And a hard working man.
I have decided to pay you what you deserve for this painting. I want you to use that money well. To invest in yourself and your own business. As an added bonus, if you can promise me that you do not stop chasing your dream, then you may have your time with my feet, and only my feet. Nothing above the ankles, my friend.
I can only hope my feet will give you the satisfaction equivalent to the one your painting will give me. I shall take good care of mine for the day you eventually have your way with them.
Never give up,
