Metanodon and Magnosaurus were two Gori Kaiju who appear in episodes 40 (The Grass Whistling Monster) and 41(Vapor Monster Dies at Dawn) in the Spectreman tv series.

_Appearances and Abilities_

Metanodon was a salamander-like lake Kaiju of Gori's, mostly green in color with bits of orange, brown and black adorning the color scheme; it sport a tail with multiple tendrils in the end, as well warts all over its body that were able to release gas seeing to quell fire, the same gas was spew from its mouth, as well fire - though doing the latter when in a rage state. Metandon was one of the few good Kaiju in the series, and the most noble one at that, with the ability to speak. Having develop for some reason a personality of its own, Metanodon would rather be by himself, not interested in really to cause trouble to humans, and in fact befriends a human child thanks to his leaf flute, its music tone he comes to enjoy. Sadly his one weakness is his enrage stage, where the membranes on the back of his head raise; when in this stage, Methandon loses all reason and intelligence, not able to recover it until it calms down, often with the help of the child's Leaf Flute. It often will produce either a moan like croak for its roars.

Despite having fought him earlier, Metanodon is the first Kaiju in the show to come at the aid of Spectreman.

Magnosaurus was a Ceratops like Kaiju dark green in color, covered in red bulbous warts; it was the real main threat of the two parter, design to provoke an eruption, which was part of Gori's plan to "Purify the countryside". It was able to fire blazing red hot rocks from its mouth; it was also able to cause Earthquakes of considerable scale; it was also able to operate a severed leg against Spectreman during his final battle. The Magnosaurus suit was modify from the Zeron suit, the third Kaiju Spectreman faces in the show. It produces a chipping like screech as its roar.

_Hitory_

Metanodon makes his presence know when emerging from a lake and the Pollution Squad is send to deal with new Kaiju, just as it attacks a Resort; Arthur and John keep distracted with their helicopter while the rest of the team on the ground fire with a bazooka. The Beast retreats, but the group believes it dead, despite George's reservations, his concerns are soon confirm by Kurata after a phone call.

Meanwhile, a boy (Kenny – NO, NOT JOKING!) is playing with his leaf flute when bullies come to harass him and kids pull the rope tied to his raft, forcing him to fall onto the water; Metanodon emerges and save him; Kenny is terrify at first, but his terror turns to shock when the Beast talks to him. As he plays another leaf flute, Metanodon sings and dance with the tune of the melody, but soon come to see he is hurt with a branch stuck in his ringer; Kenny removes it and covers the wound with his shirt, the two become friends. Kenny learn he was the monster from the previous attack, though Metanodon doesn't know what comes into him, but promises Kenny not to do it again.

Not far, the Pollution Squad follows the trail of Metanodon to Kenny's Village and ask questions, meeting both Kenny and his Grandfather. Kenny goes to warn Metanodon, but is abstracted by the Bullies from before who are helping the other G-Men to search for the beast. When Briefly one of them notice his finger with Kenny's shirt emerging out of the water, though it sinks, miss it, and the group continue the search. As Kenny tells Metanodon, George watches from a distance, surprise by this revelation, specially as the Kaiju follows the boy to a safer hideout up the mountains. As the group calls for the night and Metanodon rests, Gori rages at the situation with the beast, revealing the creature is one of his creations, and orders Karas to send another Monster.

Unfortunately, Metanodon is found by the bullies the next day and warn the rest of the G-Men; Kenny, hearing their screams, heads back to warn Metanodon, but the Kaiju comes under attack by the Pollution Squad, causing it to enter its rage stage and lose its sense of reason, throwing rocks at them; the beast then goes to attack and burn the village, with Kenny trying to reason with him to no avail, getting trap by the raging fire; George runs in, transforms into Spectreman, saving Kenny and then facing the beast. As Kenny comes to his senses, he begs Spectreman to stop attacking Metanodon; in that moment the Volcano erupts and the Ceratops like Monster Magnosaurus emerges, blasting fiery rocks on its enemies; Metanodon, coming to its senses, releases a Fire Retardant gas that puts out the fire, but disappears, leaving Spectreman to face Magnosaurus as Metanodon returns to the lake and Kenny angry at him.

Spectreman deals with Magnosaurus to his full potential, but the beast overpowers him forcing Spectreman to revert to George (got a suspicion I'm missing a scene here); George reunites with the others and Kenny, the latter whose having doubts now about Metanodon's good nature after what he witness, though George tries to convince he may been manipulated. Meanwhile Gori explains Karas of his master plan; to purify the land around with a Volcanic Eruption that will wipe out humans and Pollution. The news of Kenny's friendship with the Monster spreads, causing the boy to be bully by the other kids, while a mob tried to get him only to be scared (and then George) away by his Grandfather with riffle in hand.

Situation goes from bad to worst as signs of seismic activity around the Volcano indicate an imminent eruption and the Pollution Squad is send out to help with the evacuation of the area. Otto and John find the Magnosaurus and warn George and Sally, the latter who find Kenny on the way requesting to take them to Metanodon to know if he is good for real or not; George then breaks from Sally and Kenny to recon the area for himself. Not long after the Volcano Erupts; the ensuing rock slide falls onto a near by village, while it nearly kills George, who then jumps out the jeep to transform into Spectreman to face Magnosaurus; the Cyborg proceeds to keep the Kaiju down, while Arthur with a military team set demolition charges in the area to deal with the rock slide, while Otto and John provide fire cover for Spectreman.

Karas suggest to send Metanodon, now reprogram, and the Beast marches towards the battle to aid Magnosaurus; Kenny tries to talk to him, but he doesn't respond until Sally tell him to play his Leaf Flute, causing the Kaiju to calm down and come out of his trance, remembering his friend, surprising Gori and Karas. Meanwhile Magnosaurus over powers Spectreman and the tables turn, even though Spectreman cuts its Fore right leg off, the beast is able to put the Cyborg down, using his leg, while burying him in an avalanche of rocks. In that moment, Metanodon joins the fray this time to help Spectreman by fending him off from Magnosaurus; the two Kaiju fight, with Metanodon proving to be the stronger of the two, he pushes his enemy away to the other side of the mountain, where out of view, a series of explosions take them both, with Spectreman coming to realize Metanodon was good in the end and Gori practically having meltdown for another defeat.

Kenny talks with Metanodon one last time, the latter calling him Sweet Little Thing; Kenny plays the Leaf for him as Metanodon passes away and his body evaporates into the air.
