For a long time, I've been considering how I would like to explore werewolves / the concept of lycanthropy. It's never been incredibly appealing to me for reasons I could never quite lock down, so I set out to explore interpretations that spoke to me, and this story is the first result of that exploration. In this tale, we sit in on a day on a remote farm, where the elderly woman Marin prepares for a very special event, a visit from her grandchildren.

Finding a lens to explore lycanthropy through was the key to getting this one down; we don't really see a lot of older werewolves in fiction, so what is that like? What's it like to be an older lycanthrope whose only real nemesis is time? What kind of life do you live? Those questions really got me exploring things and finally finding a way to write lycanthropes in a way I enjoyed.
