I saw this sculpture next to "Harrods" (a store for the affluent folks). Can't say that the author has any furry inclinations, but one never knows. A plaque next to it read as follows:
Anyhoo, that dog just reminds me of Mr. Peanutbutter from "Bojack Horseman".

This polar bear loved being in the water. It was so refreshing and always put his worried
mind at ease. But, while he enjoyed splashing around, today he's concerned by the
amount of water that floods his frozen home. As the ice melts, arctic sanctuaries are
being transformed. Experts predict his species will decline by 30% by 2050. The polar
bear wants everyone to know about his 'problem, asking them to stay cool and help his
home stay that way too.

Funny thing is, statues like this are often entirely dark when put out on display, and over time the glossy golden bronze comes to the surface where people often stroke the statue.
You often see it on some famous ones of dogs especially.
