Local Pediatrician Advises
Parents to Take Control of
The 'Elephant in the Living Room'
That was the headline under the picture in the Seattle's Child it appeared in. My mom said...
"This illustration accompanies a story in the May issue of Seattle's Child about a new book, "The Elephant in the Living Room" about the big influence television has in children's lives and yet how little it is discussed in parenting books. The book talks about the ways television is good for kids and the ways it is bad and how parents can take control of it through "mindful viewing" and watching good shows with their kids."
Anything beyond that was up to me. Mom suggested I make the TV literally BE an elephant, and I decided the TV show, a cat chasing a mouse, would be "harmful television" for the feline viewers with a lapine friend.
In the end, I got $45 for doing this. $20 fom Mom and $25 from Seattle's Child.
