Lumen Latrans
The bearer of the Torch before you, and after eleven others before him. His story is yet to unfold before you, but it will in due time. For now, you need his wits and he needs your strength. You carry the torch now, and you cannot help but feel the words he spoke to you echo in your mind since last you parted.
"Since the time of Falling Skies it has been lit,
The Torch has been carried from bearer to bearer,
Both man and creature have risked and lost their lives carrying it,
Now a new bearer is brought to bear the weight of the world.
Far you will carry us into the dark,
Along winding paths into forests and mountains,
Across deserts and the graveyards of steel,
You are tasked with traveling across this broken world,
But be not deceived-- you alone will not save it from the black rain and giants made of steel.
Use this torch to find a path and light your way,
To keep you warm and prepare your meals,
May its eternal fire keep the darkness at bay,
To prepare a moment of respite for the sickest among us, and our broken world to heal.
Man's hands made this mess,
And by man's hands can it be undone,
It is up to you, human.
You are not only the next bearer,
But possibly the last one."
