-Chapter 1
Katy Kitty
When you take on the job of a detective, you tend to hear a few creative stories. Most of the ones I hear come from cases as simple as thievery and disturbance of peace. Sometimes it’s something complex like “I was meant to inherit this but society took it from me.” Other times, it something stupid like “He stole my spot in a public parking lot.” God I lose sleep over how ridiculous some maroons are.
But there is an occasional murder case now and then. Many of them are as basic as a poor sap being pushed too far. Then there’s the greedy bastards just trimming off competitors to further line their own pockets. Course you also got your understandable revenge story and certainly a simple accident or misunderstanding. Hell, sometimes I got thrown for a loop with a fake death case. Personally I enjoy those the most so long as nobody gets hurt from em.
I was cycling through all these different cases, trying to predict what this specific one would result as. For the past few months, their have been disappearances all through the city. Someone was been picking off citizens at night, leaving almost nothing behind. And interestingly enough, all the victims are normies. Of course that just feeds into some folk’s prejudice assumptions that it has to be a toon behind it all. I ain’t saying it’s impossible, but our society already has some mistrust without stuff like this fanning the flame. People at the station were even skeptical about me taking on the case, being all “Oh for all we know, this doodle here could be involved with the disappearances.” Oh bite me, Gerald!
But in any case, nobody stopped me. But I knew it wasn’t gonna be an easy task. Sad as it was there were a few toons out there who would have a motive to stick it to the normies, or noids if you really wanted to piss them off. Even my dear Loraine understandably has beef with them. It ain’t my story to tell, but she was the result of normies taking advantage of toons. Poor girl has intense malice for the lot of em, but I couldn’t go to her about this case. She’s hurt and angry, but I couldn’t see her going out of her way to do this.
Whoever is behind this, I plan to catch them and bring ‘em in, by the book. This ain’t no attempt at glory or to prove anyone wrong. This is saving the city I grew up in, and hopefully help to breathe some peace into it. I just hope the victims are still alive and can still be saved. Suppose we’ll find out soon enough. Gonna be a long few nights.
