In my HN-tSotL 2.0, Ness characters acquire Ness Bless powers by becoming hosts for meme/plasma-based entities called Daemons, with each daemon representing a different concept. Through a charged Loch-et, a daemon host can command vir daemon to cause a mental effect in a chosen target. Bad Ness characters will use daemons to control and hurt while good Ness uses daemons to raise morale and enhance wellbeing.
As you can see, I'm a fan of "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" hence the my choice to literally personify Ness Blesses as strange creatures standing by their users. In fact, my Happy Ness reboot will feature a lot of psychic warfare when I get to that part of my established continuity.
