Navartu is another one of my more personal characters that'll probably never again see the light of day anywhere. :p Like Shadow before her she's paired with the dragon king but is far, far more dangerous than my dark hearted black dragoness will ever be.
Nav is a special case that hails from another plane entirely, one so high up on the food chain that she's considered a goddess on the world she now calls home. Her appearance is the result of a magical splicing between two races that occured against her will. She was originally wingless and only green and brown before the change and acted as a high priestess to her people, a literal conduit between them and their goddess given unfathomable power by her creator and the sole member of the race allowed to impart violence upon another creature.
At a particularly dark point in her life however Navartu became posessed by a god from the only plane higher than hers. His name was Ssethis and he was once lover to her godess Ahline until a difference of opinions split them apart. Ssethis was a creature of war and created a race gifted in powerful arcane abilities and a particular knack for destructive arcane technology. They were called Sertillians and were very similiar in form as Navartu's race, the Fahronii except all Sertillians had wings and smooth deep blue skin whereas all Fahronii posessed scaled, lightly plated forest hued skin with varied colors from one to the next.
The Fahronii goddess in contrast to Ssethis was a being of love and creation and she too gifted her creations with vast magical knowledge, even greater than that of Ssethis' children but the Fahronii used their knowledge to conserve life and shunned the destructive practices of their Sertillian counterparts. Before the quarrel that split the two dieties apart, the two races lived in perfect harmony with each other and were gifted by their creators with the ability to procreate between their species, giving life to many beings resembling Navartu's appearance known as Fahronillians.
These beings possessed all of the powers of both races and none of their weaknesses and ushered in an era of lasting peace and tranquility for ages until their creators' love began to wane. Ssethis eventually grew jealous of Ahline's love for her children, tiring of the way she coddled them and listened to their prayers even more than she listened to him. (theres a lot more to it but I'm not leaving a novel here as a submission comment...) Long story short, when their love finally died Ssethis vowed vengence against the goddess who broke his heart and turned his Sertillians against her Fahronii.
The love shared for thousands of years between the two races dissolved over night and the Sertillians began a two hundred year war against their once most cherished allies with no memory at all of the peace that had lasted so long between them. The Fahronillians became trapped between both sides. The Sertillians, under Ssethis' influence, saw them as little more than a sick mutation of their perfect species while the Fahronii saw them as a potential threat to them because of their mixed blood and thus they were banished by one race and hunted to extinction by the other. Ssethis himself possessed Ahline's priestess, her only physical link to her children and their only defense against the Sertillian armies that sought to destroy her people. With Navartu lost to her, Ahline's very nature made it impossible for her to fight back, she detested bloodshed and violence to the point that she forbade her remaining creations from using their considerable powers to crush the Sertillians completely, promising them paradise and salvation in exchange for enduring the hardships of their mortal life.
And so it came to pass that the Sertillian race utterly conquered the Fahronii in every part of the globe, shackling them with oppression and servitude for ages.
Navartu fits into all of this because it was through her body that Ssethis began his war. He possessed her as she knelt in prayer in her temple, using his own powers to amplify those granted to her by her goddess to slaughter her own people in front of her. He intentionally twisted her body into that of the form she now has, stripping her of all free will but leaving her mind intact so that she could bear witness to the atrocities he committed through her. His possession gave her unnaturally long life allowing her to be present both at the beginning and the end of the wars when the last Fahronii bastion fell to his children with her hand dealing the final blows upon the last remants of resistance her people could muster.
In the eyes of her people Navartu become an abomination, a personal affront to all they stood for, and the physical justification of the mistrust they'd placed in the Fahronillians. She hated herself and all she had become but could do nothing but watch as her people were enslaved by their most devoted protector. She had only one hope of ever being free, a prophecy handed down by Ahline to her people that one day, against all odds another being of two bloods would be born into the world and that creature's light would shine brighter than all before it, banishing the darkness that had taken their world and setting right all the wrongs committed against their people.
Another long story short, it happened. :p And that's how Navartu ended up living elsewhere, free of Ssethis' posession, and at least at peace with her past even if not her appearance.
The present day Navartu is a very solemn character often prone to staring at herself in the mirror and hating the thing she sees staring back at her as she would like nothing more than to be herself again, without the eternally present reminder of the twisted beast she had become at Ssethis' will. She's got a kind heart in spite of all the wounds of its past and has a particularly soft spot for anyone trapped in a body they never asked for. She's come a long way from the charred and bloody road she once walked on her home plane and has since found at least some form of solace in the arms of the very creature that saved her so many years ago and has even started to accept her physical appearance enough to wear attire that shows much of the flawed blends of colors that grace her form.
Good lord, I didn't realize I'd wrote this much till I looked back at it. lol. Oops. Anyway, that's Navartu by who else but
AcidaPluvia :D I'm not stopping till she does all my character models, bwaaahahahahahaaa!!!
