Fun fact: In a few million years from now Mars may have a ring system a lot like that as its moon Phobos slowly spirals closer and closer to the planet until it passes the Roche limit; the radius around a planet at which the tidal forces are too great for satellites above a certain size, density and composition can remain stable and thus start to fall apart, forming a ring system.
