Richard is well aware that he walks the line between human and animal, and a deep-seated fear of his is slipping over the line into being an animal full time.

And recent events in the RP where he was reduced to a feral-intelligence wolf for several days after being shot in the back rendered this nightmare all the more real, and consequently, he's been having nightmares to this effect sporadically since, because now the threat is all the more real.

I particularly like how Jakkal remembered to include some feathers on his skin and around him, since emotional trauma is a shifting trigger for him.
