#32 in my ArtRage portrait challenge, rave theme, for
gearotter!
This is TJ Lux, normally a pilot, in the spirit of trying anything once is giving this whole rave thing a shot. Poor dude is finding out that spinning poi is a liiittle bit harder than it looks...! ;) (And that most people start out with socks and beanbags, because you're gonna hit yourself lots, and glowsticks *hurt*!)
Currently: CLOSED for these, but keep an eye on my journal if you want to know when I'm open!

crystal covers are win, but still i prefere my sticks. I have one set of poi which were gifts from
kumo-wolf that are made of fur and are soft and light so i could flail them at someone and not hurt them hehe.

isolations are pretty easy once you feel them out. hybridizing isolations is a whole different story
if you have like an old long sleeve shirt you can cut off the sleeves and turn them into poi. or you can just sew some too i made my own practice poi by making cloth tubes with drawstring ends and they have held up for a year and so now

One thing I can't quite understand is that furries seem to think glowsticking and poi are similar, or even the same thing. Both are very, very different from each other, although glowsticking has taken quite a few of the traditional poi techniques and modified them. Poi was designed for a very specific purpose by the Maori, glowsticking comes across as more of a shiney light show then the original principles of warrior agility training and the like for poi.
Gorgeous pic, and I remember those days ^_^ ...Especially the multiple nutsackings when learning weaves *laughs*

I have to admit, I learned with spent glowsticks. and on my first attempt, smoked myself RIGHT IN THE EYE.
I already let you know how much I enjoy this, but. IT SHOULD BE SAID HERE TOO.
this is just awesome and I absolutely love the results. <333 such a priceless D8 expression. xD

LawL! I got those poofy cat toys... the puffball things tied to the end of some shoelaces to practice new spins and especially transitions with for just that reason! I learned the (VERY!) hard way that practicing with live sticks can be (and more often than not, *IS*) rather painful!
And of course, as always, yet another gorgeous oCe glowstick crazy-awesome pic! ^-^
