Aalukri are skittish creatures. They understood their world was a dangerous one and not even the depths of their hollows were safe from predators. They were killed in their very nests, ambushed if they took the same routes through the forest, and generally moved about with ears pricked and eyes swiveling to catch the darkness of a large body that would block the background glow. They always were moving around, but they avoided taking risks. The higher you climbed, the higher the risks. When Musaamik ventured above the bioluminescent All-Hollow, the unfamiliarity of the sunlight shining from above once the darkness began to fade did not daunt her as it would another aalukri. Relying on her keen hearing, her tufted ears swiveled to and fro as she ascended cautiously from branch to branch. An hour later, the darkness began to lighten as a clean white glow suffused the air, Musaamik's light-sensitive eyes instantly catching the glow of the sweetblooms which she sought.
Sweetblooms only flowered here, close to the canopies but still within the dark, catching the faintest glow of sunlight to unfurl their petals to and give up their sweet nectar and rich pollen. Musaamik took her first taste with satisfaction, eager to bring back some blooms for those who weren't as brave as she. They wouldn't believe that there was nothing to fear from the lights above.
I had been wanting to commission
fenro for quite a long time and back in March the opportunity arose! I gave them the choice of which of my fluffercritters they wanted to work with and my gorgeous Musaamik was chosen. I've been wanting an interesting perspective from below to pair with the one from
noxeri I got of Ka'ahkai called "Wonders Below". They are 'sister pictures' and I might even post them side by side one day.

Musaamik and the aalukris species is mine, as is All-Hollow.
