-or the original title "It's the wasteland, Mr. Lux- people will die."
I still can't believe that
is gone; for a lot of us who found the fandom through Yerf and similar websites, his work was not just inspiring, but educational and interesting, not just the stories of Asheru via Huzzah! but through the studies he would share detailing anthro anatomy and poses- I know I'm not the only one who heavily referenced his work while starting out.
it still feels like yesterday when he dropped a watch over at my Fighterjet account- I was so, so amped up by it- this was one of my biggest idols online when it came to art and just being a friendly and helpful person who really didn't give a shit about your politics or beliefs; he just wanted to see people thrive and to breathe life into them.
then he commissioned me for this- Magnus in a post-apoc setting where I was free to add my own story/twist to the existing lore- just a different time period/setting. I couldn't believe that an idol would want to commission me, hahahaha- but I was more than happy to do so- honored, really.
but I ended up getting the bigger part of the bargain, I think; I gained a friend and a constant source of feedback and insight and advice on how to do art- when I was struggling in general, he helped me a lot in finding some direction in art again; even if it was solely commissions- there's no shame in doing that exclusively and my personal creativity will return so long as I keep drawing and I keep trying. well, personal creativity is still hard; I still struggle with depicting my own narratives again, but his words still echo true in my heart;
keep.
drawing.
I had an inkling that his health was failing because our interactions had slowed and his uploads had tapered- but he could also go through periods where he wasn't overly productive, yet still active in terms of communication and interaction and well. yeah.
I will miss him; I know so many people will and that he has touched so many hearts and impacted this fandom as a whole.
he will live on through all of us and through our memories of this incredibly kind, skilled, and insightful man.
rest in honor Scott, you deserve it so much.
and as you've told me and I think it's something valuable for everyone else too;
keep. drawing.

SERIOUSLY!
like- his art taught us a lot, especially that old school diagram about different levels of plantigrade and digitigrade, not to mention just so many gorgeous sketches showing movement and emotion. plus he was genuinely friendly and so, so helpful and kind and just wanted to see people do and be the best that they could do.
his words always; "I'm happy you're still drawing!", something he's said to countless of people, but that was also his message too; just keep drawing and learning and exploring.

it really is what he would have wanted and would want. I knew him best as a fellow artist; he kept a lot of his personal life hidden unless you were a very close friend- but when it came to art, he could talk and talk and share and give advice and I think that's because that's what he wants his legacy to be.
one that encourages and inspires people to keep doing creative things.

yeah, it was a fucking massive shock for me- and a think a lot of us, tbh; he kept a lot of personal things hidden and yeah, he was getting up there in the years, but.
some people, you can't help but see as immortal, especially when they've been a constant figure in your life for decades, both as an artist and as a mentor to so, so many others.
if we all keep creating, he will live on forever.
