Brise (left) is a mage affiliated with the Practitioners of Crude Magicks. She works as a fertility mage, and normally helps trying couples to conceive or helps ease the process of childbirth for women (this is all through spells that can be cast from the next room over, not to worry.) Granted, her powers are pretty useless on the battlefield, so unlike most mages, she's kept far from the frontline, helping to defend and fortify White strongholds should the war turn to the Blues' favor. (More on that below.)
Jade (right) is a knight affiliated with the Southern Union of magickal kingdoms, and has also attained to the rank of neophyte on the magick ladder, which allows her to use some basic magick to augment her swordfighting skills. As a kobold knight, Jade has always been taken by the kingdoms as more of a novelty than a legitimate knight, and has spent her career mostly guarding the pets of wealthy landowners. This is despite being both a knight and a mage– a double whammy that takes years to achieve; her job frustrations lead her to harbor some sympathy for the Blues. Naturally, she is kept to the White strongholds, where she meets and befriends Brise. The white parts of her horns are fake– she sawed off her real ones so she can wear a knight's helmet.
Both are affiliated with the pro-magick White coalition, which is fighting against the anti-magick, republican Blues. In keeping with the bad reputation coldbloods tend to have among other races, kobolds are oft scorned for their diminuitive stature and supposed lack of individuality or free will. However, they are trusted much more than dragons– or at least, seen as less of a threat– and have some degree of trust among both the Whites, who control the coldblooded heartlands, and the Blues, who have welcomed a number of liberal coastal kobold towns into their coalition. Due to their large clutch sizes, improved nutrition and sanitation, and the poor conditions in the coldblooded heartlands, kobolds have a sizable diaspora in most of the world's major ports and trade cities.
