Moonthunder (Moonsanda) was a Monster who appeared in Episodes 34 and 35 of the Spectreman TV series: "The Moon dweller's revenge pts 1 and 2."
_Appearance and Abilities_
Moonthunder was a Brown color Lunar kaiju that awoke when American astronauts took some of its lunar rocks; its body was cover in warts and had wing membrane under its arms for flight; it also sport a shell it use for protection that could come off. The Blade like Crest on the end of its snout would produce flashes that would help it seek out the lunar rocks, but was able to blind its enemies and cause damage to any electrical systems which Gori's fell victim to when flying up close. An odd feature seeing with the Monster, is that it sport a tube on the back, this serve to release smoke for cover.
The Monster is among the few Kaiju to not be evil, in fact, much like Magulah (the kaiju from Eps. 25 and 26, and whose suit Moonthunder is made out off) was a parent who came to protect its young, albeit with Magulah been the more tragic of the two, as it lost its young, driving it insane in its grief; Moonthunder is also among the few Kaiju in the series not created, nor control, by Gori, acting out on it own for its own reasons.
The Beast's roar was in actuality the creaks of a Wooden Door.
The Story line marks the final appearance of Margaret in the show.
_History_
American Astronauts take an odd glowing purple rock to Earth, their presence been something Gori finds as an insult, boasting only he holds the right to explore the solar system; but before he could act against them his ship goes haywire, as the Monster Moonthunder emerges and goes after the Apollo craft. In the meantime, George looks at the rock held by the Japanese, learning from Prof. Mora of its Calcium content and the existence of three others on other continents.
Above Earth, the Astronauts fight for their lives, as they try to avoid the Beast at every turn, but their actions prove to no avail; as they made a force re-entry onto Earth's Atmosphere, the capsule burns and disintegrates, but Moonthunder is able to recover the Lunar Rock, holding it like a treasure and flies away, ignoring Gori's ship.
Feeling the presence of other similar rocks, the Monster continues its path towards the next objective, George seeing the rock glowing as the monster passes by (oddly ignoring it) – George tries to warn the others the object is here for the Moonstone, but is laughed by everyone in the room. Moonthunder dives into the sea, destroying passenger ship and swims all the way to San Francisco, destroying the Golden Gate Bridge; along the way, Gori, impress by the monster's power, cheers for him. The beast then takes off, undeterred by the barrage of the USAF Jets and heads to New York – George transforms into Spectreman and flies there to meet up the Kaiju.
Moonthunder makes it to New York and attacks the Science Facility and takes another Moonstone, when Spectreman arrives. It puts the stones away and the two titans battle; In their battle, the giants destroy what's left of the facility buildings and Spectreman tries to take it down with Nebula Slice, with no effect, but the Monster uses its Explosive Flashes, destroying a cylinder tanks, wounding Spectreman's knee. The Cyborg uses its Spectre Flash, blasting away only its Shell (dunno how it works, but that's how is edited). Moonthunder then goes for the Moonstone, holding it with care, which attracts Spectreman's curiosity to its behavior.. The Kaiju leaves the area with Stone in hand.
Reverting back to George, our hero searches for the Archives on the study of the Moonstones, and delivers the report to Overlord; after studying it, Overlord reports of Spectreman that the Moon rocks are actually Eggs, and the Monster is rescuing its unborn young, remembering his conversation with the Professor and realizing the situation, George tries to make its task to recover the rocks, but is unable to, due to the Energy drain up in the battle.
In the meantime, with Gori following its trail of devastation, the Pollution Team keeps track of Moonthunder as it recovers the London and Paris Moonstones, now on its way to Tokyo to pick the last one when they from Professor Mora the Stones communicate with one another; The professor, along with the Pollution team and the JSDF, decide to hide it. George returns to Japan (SOME HOW on the same day) and heads to the lab only to find the Stone is no longer there, the JSDF and the Pollution team transporting it away from the city for a trap on an open field near a volcano, the area surrounded by an Armed Corp of the JSDF – He reaches the Professor, who is with them, and tries to convince them to return the Stone to the Monster, revealing it to be an egg, but contact is lost due to the signal emitted by the Communicating Stones.
As everything is prepare, Moonthunder arrives and pursues John and Arthur who carry the Egg on their Jeep. John and Arthur jump out of harms way and Moonthunder is reunited with the final stone; George arrives to see the Monster in a cheerful mood and Prof. Mora apologizing for not believing him early. Moonthunder takes off, but the JSDF (quite fucking questionably) opens fire on the Kaiju and hit it in one of the Wing Membranes, forcing it to land and dropping the Stones; George transforms into Spectreman and tries to convince the creature of its assistance as the Moonstones hatch open with the newborn coming out, but the actions of the JSDF only make it more hostile as the Babies come themselves under fire as they take off and refusing to leave the side of their parent. This forces Moonthunder to attack Spectreman, though the latter holds his strength back as he tries to talk to it, the Parent won't listen. Moonthunder smacks down the Cyborg then turns its anger on the JSDF, destroying the armored corp; at one point, hurting Prof. Mora with debris.
Spectreman is finally uses force to hold the Monster back; their battle drags all the way to the volcano summit, where the two Titans fall into the crater, seemingly been destroy by the ensuing eruption. The Hatchlings, seeing their parent gone, fly away back to the moon, where as the Pollution squad has to mourn with the lose of Spectreman, and George, whose tatter jacket was found by Arthur and John and presume killed by the Monster.
# throughout this episode George has a kid as a friend who like astronomy; in this whole thing I never mentioned him once, because for the life of me, I dunno what did he contributes to the whole thing, beside been the mandatory Kenny of the week.
