As most are no doubt aware, I'm a big football (soccer) fan. Some may remember me posting a picture a couple of years ago called 'Pride of Anglia' (click here) involving my favourite team, Ipswich Town, and our local rivals Norwich City, who had been relegated to Football League One that summer. The picture depicted the Ipswich mascot (a big white horse) taunting the Norwich mascot (a little canary) in celebration of our superiority over them at the time.
Well, it's safe to say that in the two years since I posted that picture, everything has gone wrong for Ipswich, and everything has gone right for Norwich. So much have the tables turned in fact that whilst Ipswich have gone absolutely nowhere, Norwich City not only won the League One title but are now celebrating their second successive promotion to the Premier League - meaning we are now inferior to them.
Yeah. Okay, karma, very subtle...(!)
I don't mind swallowing my pride, so with the aim of restoring some balance to the universe, I have drawn a new, updated version of 'Pride of Anglia' - a sequel, if you will, with roles reversed to reflect the unfortunate power shift in East Anglian football since the original version. So ladies and gentlemen: I bring you Pride of Anglia II.
Enjoy your moment on top, Canaries - our day will come again, hopefully very soon...

Heh! I think Max Rushden summed it up quite succinctly on Soccer AM a couple of weeks ago: "It sort of happens each year that you start really badly, there's this false position, and then you get really good when... it doesn't really matter!"
To be fair, you've had a lot of injury problems in recent years, but I think you're in desperate need of a proper goalscoring striker - otherwise you're always missing Tim Cahill when he's not around.
I do like Everton though. Honest club, built up success over the years, it was great when you were right up there in the top 4 a few seasons back. Best of luck next year!

Been a While since we last spoke, expecially about football. Gotta say lots changed since last time bud.
My team (RKC Waalwijk) has since last week Promoted back to the Eredivisie in Holland (Top Leauge) after relegating last year.
I was there at the next to last match wich turned into a 7-0 win.
--
Bessides that living near Leicester i've grown a bit of a fondness for Leicester City but I don't really follow them strongly.

We gotta talk mate, lots of catching up to do!

Hey there SC!! Nice to hear from you again!
Congrats to RKC - I wasn't sure which division you'd be in by now but that is excellent news! Just don't turn into a yo-yo team...
Still living near Leicester, I see. I was in the city last weekend for Ipswich Town's match at the Walkers Stadium; we lost 4-2 but it was a cracking contest. My bro supports them though so I've a fondness for them myself as well.
I forgot to mention - Ipswich are going to Holland again this summer! We played a friendly against PSV last summer and lost 1-0. This year we're going on a mini tour and playing FC Eindhoven and Den Bosch. Eerste Divisie opposition, I know, but we're useless when we play abroad so they're probably the best we can handle! I thought we might end up playing RKC at one point!
Might see you around again soon, mate!

Yes you might be facing the bottom of the Eredivisie or the Top of the Jupiler Leauge.
And Yes RKC won the title, after bing 12 points behind at the winter break, taking over the lead in the next to last match (Brilliant 7-0 win, I was there WOOO) and winning the the title a week later.

Heh - well for one, it rarely only takes me 2 or 3 days (especially for the higher quality work) and at times when I'm doing other things, I might not be able to work on a picture for weeks. But more importantly, I can only really make a good job on a piece if I have the motivation for it, and that is far more fleeting than you might realise.
Hehe :3 This looks awesome ^^ and my teams for football would be the Syrian, Israeli and Lebanese football leagues ^^ I'd not root for the USA and rather go the teams that makes up my blood ;3 I'm part german so they're applicable. The team for Syria (By nickname) are the Red Eagles, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lebano....._football_team (Cedars), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel.....l_team#Stadium (The Blue and Whites). Hehe ^^ you might just get me into this sport at least. I posted the links if ya didn't know of them :)
I see ^^, from what I know the Lebanese league aren't so hot as other teams, they hardly got into the FIFA World Cups yet because they didn't either qualify or they didn't enter, I don't know much of their statistics but they are the weaker of the three listed teams. Syria is doing quite well. Israel i'm not sure yet. But they might get a break sometime :3 and how is the German league hanging?
I wouldn't rule them out. They've got plenty of goals in that side and confidence must be at an all time high after these last two seasons, but I'd think they'll find it much tougher to adjust to the top flight with the same ease they did in the Championship. (One can hope, anyway!)
Oh, I wouldn't say 'much-loathed'. I think a lot of Championship clubs admire Stoke these days - they've done what everybody at this level aspires to do, establishing themselves as a Premier League side before developing into strong cup campaigners and even European competitors. Besides, I don't think the whole throw-in thing is that big with the Potters anymore - I reckon they needed that tactic to help them when they were playing less than pretty football in their first season, but you've signed some excellent players over the last few years (our very own Jon Walters among them) and started to play some good football, not to mention becoming very tough to beat at home.
Makes me realise how long you've been up there that it seems an eternity since I was last at the Britannia! You get to many games at all?

Peter Crouch, Super Jonny Walters (£6million bargain), Pennant and most recently one Michael Owen. It's becoming quite attractive to big names.
I don't get to see much football at the Brit these days. Work keeps me away from home all the time, so when I do get home going to a match is the last thing on my mind.

Ah, that's a shame, but understandable. I don't get to many games when I'm busy myself. In fact I don't get to many matches at Portman Road full stop - it's about a 300 mile round trip for me!
£6m for Walters, was it? Must've been some top-up fees there, I only remember it being about £3m! You happy with the Owen deal?
