Caffeine is a pesticide. That's what plants produce it for. IIRC, it does something with their heart, like causing hyperactivity, that because of the insects' size makes them spend calories they don't have to the point of mortality.

Now for something less gruesome: Colas are named after the Kola nut, which multiple tribe in Africa chewed on as a stimulant. Pretty sure the string of towns in Illinois that end in -cola have a different origin, though.

And that's why I am moderating monster in my life currently. Not only for tachycardias but in general, too much soda can produce bad effects on your body, like kidney stones
