Inspired by the god-like German Poet Heinrich Heine ( http://members.aol.com/abelard2/slaveship.htm )
Well, pirates never looted big amounts of gold and treasurey. The exception proves the rule. They robbed cash, coffee, cotton, all kinds of merchandises, even commodities - and slaves.
Slaveships sailed the so called 'Golden Triangle': From Europe they set sail to Africa. For gimcrack and trash they traded slaves with the local chiefs. With the slaves (beastly crowed) they sailed as fast as possible to the Carribbean, where they sold the poor Africans to the planters on Jamaica, Cuba or Haiti. With the revenue, they slave traders bought groceries which brought a very high prize in Europe. And so on, and so on.
The feared flibustier Michel de Grammont has boarded one of those fast slaveships through a trick (his man had to dress up like women), and he just took over the "cargo".
In order that the slaves don't get rusty, they are forced to dance on the main deck....Yes, even Michel can be nasty sometimes...
I like the lineart, so I post the unfinsihed version...
