Leva Blasts Through the Desert
Leva: I've got two jet engines and places to go.
Yup, Leva has a podracer. It's an RQ-550C Dart, just like "Bullseye" Navoir's from Star Wars Episode 1 Racer but painted green and yellow. The RQ-550C Dart is a small, fast and extremely nimble pod best suited for highly technical tracks that still have long enough straights to demand a high top speed, like Grabvine Gateway on Baroonda. However, its overall performance makes it one of the most capable podracers ever produced, though its twitchy handling makes it difficult to handle.
RQ-550C Dart model is the official model and textures from the PC version of Star Wars Episode 1 Racer, with shader-level recoloring. An interesting thing I learned about that game in the process of making this was that the version of Duel of the Fates used in the game is actually a completely unique recording with additional percussion, and has never been used anywhere else.

Pod Racers was a classic. Played it on Windows 98 as a kid (didn't have an N64), and a year ago I downloaded a ROM for it to experience it all over again and for the most part it still holds up. It's one of those games that would benefit greatly from a modern remake. Updated graphics, bigger character roster, more courses, more lore and planets...so much potential.
100%
The game's actually still available on Steam, though... well, it requires a third party patch to run on modern PCs and can be very buggy at times. Also, running it on hardware much more powerful than originally intended ends up revealing a lot of jankiness in the level geometry that you wouldn't notice normally because of how the game's physics are tied to its framerate.

Well I pretty much exclusive play games on emulators these days (more convenient for me), and while it takes some reaching I usually do find a ROM that works pretty well.
Things got REALLY crazy when I looked up how to plug in cheat codes (the old fashioned way), and holy crap invincibility plus LUDICROUS SPEED mode is an experience.
