Entymologically speaking, there's an archery theme going. Arrow, quiver(storage place for arrows, also a verb for slight movement), shaft(the straight part of an arrow, or the anchoring part of a feather).
Arrow was one of the birds they used to film "Ladyhawke". Quivershaft is a portmanteau of what feathers would do when blowing in the wind, such as when the bird is flying. :>
