i generally master most if not all XD My trick is I start off by "removing" all my unwanted party members, then sell off their junk, hire 2 guys and one female (based on friends), match up their birthday sign AND get some high brave/faith. :D Well generally I get one high brave AND faith, one high brave and real low faith, and then one average brave and high faith (generally the female cuz I make her my mage).
As for the Calc yeah it kicks so much ass cuz Ramza's magic stat is generally fairly good. Starting the battle with Level 5 Holy or height __ haste (for myself) ;D It's fun. xD (Least I think you can haste-all with it! XD I don't recall if it's a Calc-useable spell
