So in one of my previous journals I had mentioned the new novel I am working on. It's a "weird western" taking place in Arizona, 1874. The story focuses on this particular individual and his name is Joseph Law. A former highly decorated sharpshooter of the Union Army. However after some unfortunate events he became more than just human. He's not mortal, but he's not immortal either. His physical strength and endurance though is beyond almost any other man.
Joe now wanders the wasteland that is the American West protecting humanity from any and all forms of evil. Whether it is of mortal origin or not. Joe is now much more, not just a guardian for mankind, but of four individuals in particular. Who are they? You'll just have to wait and see! ;p
Anyway, as much as I would like to make "Apocalypse Joe" a comic I feel that a book would fair better. (I can also finish a book in much shorter time than a comic) ^^; But I will still be drawing him so I can get a better visual for who and what he looks like. The feel I am aiming for the character and story as a whole is like those old "Spaghetti Westerns". Such as "A Fistful of Dollars", "For A Few Dollars More", "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly", and "Once Upon A Time In The West". But also to have this big supernatural twist to it all.
Joe's look is mostly derived from Clint Eastwood's "Man With No Name" persona, just minus the famous poncho. Instead Joe wares a jacket with tails. They really can't be seen too easily in this drawing unfortunately.
Now the reason why I titled this piece "Ver. 1" is because I was just focusing on his basic attire and not all of his accessories. Joe's other effects include a Colt 1855 Revolving Rifle w/ scope and modified to use cartridges, a 7 barrel "Volley" Gun (also known as a Nock Gun), two Confederate "D Guard" knives, and a black shoulder back loaded with dynamite!! I will draw a complete "Profile" pic of Joe with full kit soon. However I'll probably do some facial profiles and expressions first.
Well I hope you all like him! And PLEASE!!! COMMENT IF YOU FAV!!!
EDIT: Here's an updated version with a title font added to the image.
