Me too. I'm angry at the breeders for going for such extremes and just breeding in so many problems....I mean, the dogs can't even mate without help....thats messed up.
If I saw an adorably derpy and friendly am-bully in the shelter, I'd adopt it....but I would never go buy one...

the cruelty comes in to the living conditions of most fighting dogs....
and I guess you could have fighting references in a character....but glamorizing it because its 'cool and edgy' is not good.

Well, I honestly think the whole idea of making animals fight eachother as a 'sport' is messed up...from the very beginning, not just now.
And I'd love to see the APBT become the all american dog again, but you ask a random person on the street and they'll say they are ALL vicious monsters. And part of the problem is the punks who breed these EXTREMELY dog aggressive pits and don't train them...the only way to stop the punks is to stop dogfighting all together...it doesn't matter if some people treat their fighting dogs better than most dogs, it would still be a double standard to let them continue.

Eh I just think true dogmen need to close their circles, so that people morally against pit contests think it's over... and ambully breeders need to improve their image. as much as I hate it, the ambully is what the public considers a "pit bull" now, so whatever they do directly affects the true APBTs...
but, I'm a pessimist, I'm pretty sure the "war on APBTs" isn't going to end until the only Pit Bulls (and related breeds) left in the USA are underground.

something that's 90 pounds and has an enormous head isn't a pit bull...and not only the APBT is affected....ALL bully type breeds are. the amstaff, staffybull, engbull, and ambulldog....all of them...hell, even some idiots mistake boxers for 'pit bulls'.
and I don't think the problem would go away by 'true dogmen' going underground...they need to stop...bloodsports are just not acceptable anymore. And if discovered, the 'true dogmen' would be treated exactly the same way as the streetfighters by law enforcement. Dogfighting is a crime, it doesn't matter who does it.

The acceptability of it is in the eye of the beholder. I used to think that all dog matching was bad until I looked at it with an open mind. Hog hunting with dogs is still legal, I consider it much more atrocious, just because a hog is wild means it's okay to set dogs on it to slaughter it? Anyways, it's not illegal everywhere.
Personally, I am not a fan of it as a sport. But what is it that makes it any worse than hunting wild animals with dogs? Just because the "loser" being shredded is also a domesticated animal? I don't understand how one is legal and the other is not.
I do, though, support game testing an animal once in his life... to prove his worth for breeding. Or else APBTs will go extinct in everything but name, because they will become AmStaffs.
