To be honest, I have only rarely watched the series. It's something I ought to love, but I could never get into, despite trying several times over the decades. I found it too confusing.
Tom Baker is, of course, THE Doctor for many Americans. David Tennant did a good job in the one episode I saw with him in it. Recently, doing research, I watched the "Doctor Who" movie with Paul McGann as #8, and I feel that that is "my" Doctor Who. I know enough about the story to have gotten most of the in-jokes and I think I'll just stop with that one. :)
And yes, this TARDIS is from the movie. I love the cozy Victorian/Edwardian steampunk feel of it. The earlier control rooms looked so cold, sterile...and cheap.

"TARDISes just seem to appear... where -- and when -- they're needed. If you abuse them, they can disappear, too."A bit like Cyril M. Kornbluth's story The Little Black Bag. 75 years old and still relevant.
To add another interesting little tidbit here, the series finale of the most current regeneration of Doctor Who (which was on yesterday) featured a long lost villian from a fourth doctor episode.
Of course, that has to be a coincidence. Or maybe, just maybe if...
Nah. Coincidence.
