Swallowing large prey is a laborious endeavor for snakey creatures. At first such a meal seems impossibly large and progress is slow as the snakey critter ratchets its jaws over its prey. At a certain point, though, enough is inside for powerful swallowing muscles to get a grip. Things speed up then and the prey is practically sucked in. In Nyoka's case, since she has arms, a bit of gravity assistance is welcome.
