In light of the upcoming artfight, I would like to offer this to you! (This is only PART 1! Part 2 is soon to follow.)
When someone doesn't include diverse races in their work, it doesn't always come from a secret hatred or disdain for that race. Some people are secret bigots, but I believe that the majority of people simply avoid drawing people of color becuase they feel unable. Many people also have refused to draw my black characters, or make any of their own out of fear that they will somehow be offensive for drawing other races imperfectly/unrealistically, even though they are comfortable drawing their own race in an imperfect, unrealistic way.
I hope that this tutorial will help some people let go of this fear and worry, and embrace the idea that skill and realism are not as important as showing the same amount love to everyone, and making people feel like they are wanted.
Don't let people you care about feel like they don't belong in anyone's fantasy!!!
